Kwill is written for students who read Arabic, French and English — some of them using a screen reader, a larger text size, or a device set to reduce motion. This page says plainly what works today and what does not. We would rather be accurate than reassuring.
1. What works today
Right-to-left is real. Arabic runs right-to-left throughout the app and in the Word file Kwill produces — paragraph direction, mirrored margins and Arabic fonts are set as genuine Word properties, not simulated with alignment that collapses when someone else opens the file.
The whole interface is available in Arabic, French and English, and Kwill answers in the language you wrote in.
Kwill never overrides your system text size. If you enlarge text in your iOS or Android settings, the app's text grows with it.
Motion is reduced where your device asks for it — the thesis cover animation and the writer's transitions are skipped when reduce-motion is on.
2. What is only partly there
Screen readers: roughly one control in four currently carries a spoken label. The common actions — send, stop, undo, and the support screens — are labelled. Many others are not yet, and a screen reader will announce them only as an unlabelled button.
We have not certified Kwill as fully navigable with VoiceOver or TalkBack, and we are not claiming it here. Descriptive hints beyond a control's name exist in only one place.
Kwill has not been audited against WCAG 2.2 or EN 301 549.
3. What we are doing about it
A spoken label on every interactive control is the first piece of work, followed by hints wherever a control's purpose is not obvious from its name, and then a pass through the whole app with a screen reader on a real device rather than a simulator.
This page will be updated as each of those lands, with the same specificity.
4. If something blocks you
Write to us and say which screen you were on and what happened. An accessibility problem that stops you finishing your thesis is treated as a bug, not a feature request.
